Reading: 
Choose 2 stories to read on Sunshine online, Literacy Planet or from your library shelf at home.
Activity: Read 1 to yourself and one to somebody else in your home.
Choose your favourite story and draw a picture of the best part of the book.

Sight Words: 
Say all my sight words out loud. Ask a parent for help if you are unsure of a word.
PDF for lists of sight words uploaded onto the class blog - Please refer to your child's sight word list in their homework books. If they have completed that list, you can find the next list in this file. 

Spelling: 
Pick 5 words from the sight word list to learn to spell.

Writing: 
Retell the science experiment we did last Monday to somebody else in your home. If you didn’t, please have a look at the video!

Writing: 
Learning Purpose: Write a recount of my first week of self-isolation.
Talk to your family about what you have been doing to fill in the time while NZ is in lockdown. Draw a picture to show this and who you have had their experiences with.

Once you have your ideas, you can write your story. 

What you should include in your story:
-What, who, when, where, why and how link
-Full stops and capital letters (and experiment with other punctuation if possible)
-At least 5 sentences

Reading: 
Choose 2 stories to read on Scholastic books.
Activity: decide whether the books that you read are fiction/non-fiction. What are the differences?

Sight Words: 
Say all my sight words out loud. Ask a parent for help if you are unsure of a word.

Spelling: 
Pick 5 words from the sight word list to learn to spell.

Writing: 
Learning purpose: creative writing and adding interesting details (adjectives) to our writing.

If you could have 3 wishes what would you wish for? Why would you make these wishes?
Draw a picture of your 3 wishes. Think about using your senses to describe these wishes (what do you see, hear, smell, taste)? How does it make you feel when you imagine your wishes coming true?
If you get stuck you can ask somebody in your home to help you sound out the words.

Activity: Find different types of punctuations. Talk about each of them, what they are for and what we should do as we read them.
